The big discount dates always show up the same way: they seem far away, and then suddenly it's the week before and you're putting promotions together in a rush, with prices jotted down on a piece of paper and no idea how much stock you have left of what's about to sell the most.
The good news is there's still time to do it right. The hard part isn't the discount itself, it's getting to the date with everything organized so you can handle the demand without losing sales.
| Date | What it is | When |
|---|---|---|
| El Buen Fin | Discount weekend in Mexico | November 13 to 17 |
| Black Friday | Discount Friday, now global | November 27 |
| Cyber Monday | The online discount Monday | November 30 |
El Buen Fin is a Mexico-specific event, so if you sell there it's the first one you need to prepare for. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are now felt in almost every country, even if you're not part of an official campaign.
And the worst part is that most people only realize it once the event has already started.
1. Decide what you're going to promote (this week). Not your whole catalog has to go on sale. Pick the products that leave you a margin and already have demand.
2. Create a dedicated category for the date. A "Buen Fin" or "Black Friday" category makes your offers easy to find, instead of getting lost among the rest of your products.
3. Schedule your discount event with a start and end date. Set when it starts and when it ends so the promotion turns on and closes by itself, without you having to remember it manually.
4. Check your stock before demand spikes. Work out how much of each promoted product you can sell and restock what you need in time, not after it's already sold out.
5. Turn on your low-stock alerts. That way you find out something is running low while you can still do something about it.
6. If you sell in person, connect those sales to your inventory. If you sell in a store or at fairs, use a point of sale linked to your inventory so you don't sell the same item twice.
7. Announce it ahead of time, not the same day. Promote your offer a few days earlier on your social media so the people who already follow you know what to expect.
8. After the event, review your numbers. See what sold the most and what didn't, so you can adjust for your next date.
With Wandace you can create your seasonal category, schedule your discount event with exact start and end dates, and keep an eye on your inventory with low-stock alerts. If you sell from your pop-up store or your point of sale (POS), every sale is deducted from the same inventory. And from your statistics you can see which of your products sell the most, so you know which ones to prioritize.
If you also use Instagram or Facebook, your catalog syncs with Meta, although setting up your ads remains in your hands.
